One of the most basic questions for any geometric structure is that of the existence of a local normal form. In this talk we investigate this question for Poisson and Nambu structures. We recall their definitions and some known results, point out similarities and differences between those structures, present a new result, based on a unimodularity type assumption, and discuss questions arising from it.
