A C-algebra is an algebra of bounded linear operators closed under taking adjoints and closed under the operator norm. Among them, the amenable C-algebras form a particularly well-behaved class. It turns out that, under the assumption of certain regularity properties, the class of simple separable amenable C*-algebras can be classified by their K-theory invariant.
