Math Union Colloquium
by Slimane Alaoui Soulimani Valenti (University of Toronto)
From ChatGPT’s first public release in 2022 to Claude now solving decades-long conjectures, with Erdős problems and IMO achievements along the way, we will trace the evolution of AI and its major achievements in mathematics, especially in mathematical research.
We will explore the areas in which AI still struggles and those in which it has achieved remarkable results. Finally, we will present the views of important figures in AI, philosophy, and mathematics on these developments, and consider how the field might evolve in the future.
