In this talk we will talk about the object called Outer space, which features prominently in the study of the outer automorphism of free groups. If we have time we will proceed to discuss a particular feature of its local geometry, namely the convexity of balls, under a metric that is the analogue of the Thurston metric on Teichmuller space.

The Postdocs Seminar is a series of informal talks by Postdoctoral fellows. The aim is to learn some basics about each others research areas and to get into contact.
