Consider a model where two species of particles - "susceptible" and "infected" - perform independent random walks on an integer lattice. Susceptible particles become infected when they meet an infected particle. Infection spread in this model and in many variants can be well understood by coupling to simpler models of competing aggregate growth. I will describe how this works and various consequences of this idea.
