The binormal curvature flow is a geometric evolution equation that is thought to describe the motion of vortex filaments in certain ideal fluids. This is the second in a series of 3 expository lectures that will give an overview of what is known about the equation, starting from basic theory and ending with topics of current interest. The lectures are intended to be accessible to graduate students.
